TL;DR
OTA channel sync is the bi-directional exchange of availability and bookings between a rental's system and online travel agencies (Rentalcars, Discover Cars, AutoEurope). It prevents overbooking and lets you sell across multiple channels at once.
OTA (Online Travel Agency) channel sync keeps fleet availability consistent between the rental's system and external sales channels: Rentalcars, Discover Cars, AutoEurope, Sixt-Reseller, Booking.com Cars. Any booking on any channel immediately reduces availability on the others – no overbooking.
Architecture: the rental system holds the single source of truth for fleet availability. OTAs talk through REST API or webhooks: 1) New booking on Rentalcars → webhook to the system → decrement availability → push to Discover Cars + AutoEurope. 2) Cancellation on Discover Cars → webhook → restore availability → push to all channels. 3) Price change in the rental panel → batch push to every channel. Fast sync is critical, since active OTAs generate many requests per minute per vehicle.
Without sync: manual availability updates per channel, and overbooking creeps in during peak season. With sync: no cross-channel overbooking, more channels = more bookings, and less manual work keeping availability up to date.
Today OneRental gives you a single source of truth for fleet availability: the booking widget on your site, phone and the desk all run on the same calendar, so you don't double-book on your own channels. Native OTA sync (Rentalcars, Discover Cars, AutoEurope) and a REST API + webhooks for custom integrations are on the roadmap.
