TL;DR
An online booking widget is an embeddable web component letting customers reserve vehicles/equipment online 24/7 without contacting the office. Conversion-critical: without it customers call and often pick a competitor.
An online booking widget is an interactive component embedded on a rental's website (or on its OneRental-branded site) that lets customers check availability and book themselves. Typical flow: customer picks date, location, category; system shows available vehicles; customer picks + add-ons, enters details + pays, gets confirmation. No rental contact required.
Architecture: the widget is JavaScript+iframe embedded on the customer site (e.g. www.your-rental.com). It talks to OneRental's backend via REST API: 1) fetch availability per date+category, 2) submit booking, 3) trigger payment, 4) generate confirmation. UX: responsive (mobile-first), multi-language, multi-currency, configurable branding. Conversion-critical: fast loading, clear vehicle list with photos + prices, minimal form (5–8 fields).
Without a widget: the customer must call or email – typically with a delay, and some drift to a competitor with online booking. With a widget: 24/7 booking, higher conversion from organic traffic, automatic lead capture (customer leaves data before confirmation). The widget has been industry standard for years – without one a rental looks unprofessional.
