Local rules worth knowing
The Inland Navigation Act (art. 37a) requires a licence to helm a motor yacht with an engine over 10 kW (approx. 13.6 hp) and a sailing yacht with a hull longer than 7.5 m. No licence is needed for a motor yacht of up to 75 kW and a 13 m hull if its speed is limited by design to 15 km/h. Some lakes have quiet zones.
